Deputy Lieutenant, Brigadier Trevor Minter, was delighted to welcome HRH Prince Michael of Kent to Ramsgate for the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo, the heroic rescue of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk by hundreds of ‘Little Ships.’ Many of these vessels were later repatriated in coastal towns, including Ramsgate. To honour this historic event, The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships partnered with The Royal Temple Yacht Club and The Ramsgate Royal Naval Association to organise a series of commemorative activities. The ‘Little Ships’ arrived in Ramsgate in May, before departing for Dunkirk and then returning back to Ramsgate. The parade brought together the Lord Warden, the Mayor of Ramsgate and other distinguished guests to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those involved in Operation Dynamo and featured The Royal Marines Band & The QRA Corps of Drums and Standards & Captains of the Little Ships.

This poignant occasion served as a reminder of the courage and resilience shown during one of the most significant operations of the Second World War.
