The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to be able to attend a socially distanced event in Canterbury for VJ Day. She joined the High Sheriff of Kent, the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, the Chairman of Kent County Council and The Dean of Canterbury in a wreath laying ceremony at the Burma Star Memorial in Westgate Gardens. She then went on to a very special Evensong in Canterbury Cathedral to commemorate this important day.
Deputy Lieutenants around the County attended various socially distanced events to mark this important day. The Dean of Rochester, Philip Hesketh who is also a Deputy Lieutenant, laid a wreath in Rochester. Brigadier Trevor Minter attended a Service in Folkestone and Major Dennis Bradley was in Hythe to commemorate the day. Rosemary Dymond attended a pre-recorded Service in Gravesend.
