Deputy Lieutenant, Colonel Jane Carey-Harris TD DL was delighted to represent the Lord-Lieutenant at the recent investiture of the first Lord Mayor’s Cadet in Canterbury.

This wonderful idea was brought to the Civic Office by the Sea Cadets, and it was warmly received by the council as a meaningful way to involve the younger generation in the city’s civic life and traditions.

The Lord Mayor’s Office is delighted to see it come to life under the leadership of the Lord Mayor, Councillor Keji Moses. The role of the Lord Mayor’s Cadet is more than ceremonial. It is a recognition of exceptional dedication, discipline and commitment to serving the community and will be shared in coming years between all cadet forces across the district.

Canterbury City Council and Colonel Jane would like to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Able Cadet Dianne Gomes-Oldridge, who has been selected for this prestigious role having demonstrated outstanding service within her unit and shown herself to be a model of excellence among her peers. In becoming the first Lord Mayor’s Cadet, she is laying the foundation for what we hope will become a lasting tradition.
