Deputy Lieutenants of Kent were pleased to represent the Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Colgrain, at a series of Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremonies and Armed Forces Day events held across the county.

The week commenced with Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremonies at a number of locations, including Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Sevenoaks District Council and Hythe Town Council. These annual ceremonies provide an important opportunity for communities to come together and recognise the dedication, service and sacrifice of those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces.

Throughout the Armed Forces Day weekend, Deputy Lieutenants continued their support by attending events across Kent, including celebrations in Medway, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Folkestone, Ramsgate and Swanley. Joining local residents, veterans, serving personnel, reservists and cadet organisations, they helped mark a national day of recognition for the Armed Forces community.

The events highlighted the invaluable contribution made by serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families, while also celebrating the strong and enduring relationship between the military and the communities they serve. From parades and commemorative activities to family-friendly celebrations, the weekend reflected the pride, gratitude and support felt throughout the county.

The Lord-Lieutenant extends her sincere thanks to the Deputy Lieutenants who represented her throughout the week, as well as to the many organisers, volunteers, participants and community groups whose efforts helped make these occasions such a success.

Armed Forces Day remains an important opportunity to celebrate service, commitment and community spirit, and to recognise the men and women who dedicate themselves to protecting and serving the nation.
