Viscount De L’Isle MBE, the Lord Lieutenant of Kent  and John Smith, the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells,  joined Nikki King OBE, CEO of Isuzu Truck (UK) Ltd,  and Chris Wright, Chief Executive of Catch22 Social Enterprise Ltd on 14th November for the official opening of a second fully operational service garage under the trading name Auto22 in Paddock Wood, Kent.

Auto22, is a unique new social enterprise which was launched by the national young peoples’ charity Catch22, which specifically helps young people out of difficult situations and supports them to make positive changes in their lives. The brand opened its first garage in Gravesend in 2010, offering servicing and repair for all makes and models of cars and light vans. The success of the first garage has enabled the charity to pursue its plans to expand the brand and offer vital opportunities to young people throughout the country.

Lord Lieutenant of Kent commented on the above initiative:

“I have long been a champion of youth employment, which in these difficult economic times has become critical, as we need to ensure today’s youth can learn the skills, gain experience and advance to a full time job in a field which is of interest to them.”

“On 13 & 14 March next year The Lieutenancy is joining forces with Kent County Council and Kent Messenger to produce the 2nd Kent Choices Live Show at Kent Showground.  On the 13th  school students in years 7-11 will have the opportunity to meet businesses and organisations who can give them advice and some mentoring on the career they might think of taking up when they leave school. On the 14th the event will open its doors to the public so young men and women seeking career advice and/or their parents, can receive this advice.”

“In Kent and Medway we need to seize every opportunity to help our young people into worthwhile and satisfying jobs. These young people are the seed corn of our Kent economy and we need them to grow with their employers if we are to have sustainable wealth with good jobs in the modern knowledge based economy.”
