The Lord Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants celebrated St Georges day around the county. The Lord-Lieutenant attended the celebrations in Dartford and Deputy Lieutenant, Dr Vasudaven represented the Lord Lieutenant in Gravesend. The celebrations were produced and delivered by Cohesion Plus and supported by Same Sky and Arts Council England.
The festivities celebrated England in its modern-day ways, showcasing differences as well as celebrating the similarities between everyone. The day also works to educate younger generations about Saint George, the Patron Saint of England.
The parade held featured a variety of performers including bands, drummers, themed stilt walkers and a large fire breathing dragon as well as a fully costumed Saint George. The peak of the parade consisted of a musical performance and short speeches before the national anthem was play played by a Brass Band alongside the raising of the Saint George’s flag.
Cohesion Plus have put together these great videos of the celebrations – Dartford and Gravesend.
