Deputy Lieutenants Kate Fenwick, Tim Steele and Clive Stevens were delighted to attend a very special event at the Turner Contemporary at the beginning of January. The visit included a private guided tour of the wonderful exhibition by the acclaimed artist Bridget Riley, expertly led by one of the curators. The exhibition showcases works by the influential 94 year old painter, featuring pieces from the late 1960s, striking wall paintings from the last decade and her most recent canvases, demonstrating her continued innovation and mastery of colour and form. This free exhibition will remain on display until 4 May.
In addition to the Riley exhibition, the Deputy Lieutenants had the opportunity to view the remarkable sculptures by Simone Leigh. Turner Contemporary is the first venue in the UK to present these incredible sculptures, offering visitors a rare chance to see Leigh’s extraordinary work.
Our grateful thanks to Turner Contemporary for hosting such a wonderful and inspiring morning.
