The Lord-Lieutenant of Kent was pleased to visit Tunbridge Wells Hospital last week where she was warmly welcomed by the Chairman of the Board and senior leaders from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The visit marked several poignant moments, including the ceremonial turning of the first sod for the new Baby Loss Memorial Garden, a project led with compassion and dedication by hospital staff and community partners. The Lord-Lieutenant also unveiled a memorial stone in honour of William McDermott, a moving tribute supported by local historians and family members. Later, at the hospital’s Multi-Faith Centre, the Lord-Lieutenant joined guests for afternoon tea and presented a surprise Long Service Certificate to a dedicated NHS staff member, recognising four decades of exceptional service. This visit was a powerful reminder of the importance of remembrance and community and we thank everyone involved in this special day.
