The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to officially reopen the beautifully restored Commissioner’s House at The Historic Dockyard Chatham.
As Vice Patron of The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Lady Colgrain joined guests in celebrating the completion of an impressive 13-month restoration project, which has carefully preserved one of Kent’s most remarkable historic buildings.

As the United Kingdom’s oldest intact naval residence and a Grade I listed landmark, Commissioner’s House remains an important part of the nation’s maritime heritage. The restoration ensures that the historic building can continue to be enjoyed by visitors while serving a meaningful role for future generations.
The Lord-Lieutenant congratulated Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, the project team and funding partners whose dedication, expertise and support have made this significant achievement possible.
Our warmest congratulations to everyone involved in the restoration and sincere thanks for making the reopening such a memorable occasion.
