On 3 September, Deputy Lieutenant Lord Colgrain attended a flag raising ceremony at Sevenoaks District Council on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant, in support of the national Fly the Red Ensign Campaign. Hosted by Cllr Lynda Harrison, Chairman of Sevenoaks District Council, the event honoured the courage and dedication of the Merchant Navy whose service has been vital to the UK in both peace and wartime. The Red Ensign was proudly raised outside the Council Offices in Sevenoaks, followed by refreshments and reflection among guests.
