The Lord-Lieutenant had the pleasure of presenting SERV Kent with their Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service at Chilham.
SERV Kent is an incredible charity, providing emergency courier services, transporting vital supplies for the NHS and its major hospitals, as well as hospices in Kent and operating 24/7, 365 days a year.
What makes SERV Kent unique is that the charity has become an exemplar throughout the UK, particularly for its initiative working with the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance supplying blood products safely and securely. Their volunteer work has undoubtedly saved many lives, ensuring blood products are immediately available when the Air Ambulance has been required.
A key aspect of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is that the group must be volunteer led. It is extremely rare to see such a dynamic organisation at this scale operating entirely on dedicated volunteer effort.
Lady Colgrain thoroughly enjoyed meeting with all the volunteers and thanking them for their commitment and passion to this incredible charity.
