Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge visited Margate and Cliftonville on the 11th March, 2015 – one of her last public engagements before the birth of her second child. At Turner Contemporary HRH, escorted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Kent, was welcomed by Mr John Kampfner, Chair of Turner Contemporary, and Ms Victoria Pomery, Director. She toured the gallery and the current exhibition, Self: Image and Identity and had the opportunity to meet with several of the artists involved.
The Duchess visited the successful Clore Learning Studio meeting with Year Five pupils from Holy Trinity and St John’s Church of England Primary School in Margate, who were creating their own collaged self-portraits with help and assistance from Turner Contemporary Navigators.
In the afternoon The Duchess of Cambridge went on to visit Resort Studios in Cliftonville. The creative hub was founded in 2013 as a space that encourages experimentation and collaboration in the arts and is a base for creative professionals in Thanet.
