The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to officially open the new Memorial Garden at HMP Standford Hill on 17 June.

Created to commemorate veterans and HMP staff who have died in service, both during their careers and whilst in custody, the garden provides a peaceful and reflective space for remembrance.

This was a particularly significant occasion, marking what is believed to be the first Memorial Garden within a prison establishment to be officially opened by a Lord-Lieutenant anywhere in England and Wales.

Lady Colgrain was pleased to see the transformation of the site and to meet those whose dedication, commitment and hard work helped bring the project to fruition. The Memorial Garden stands as a fitting and lasting tribute to those it honours and will provide a place for reflection for many years to come.

Our warmest thanks to everyone involved in creating this meaningful and important memorial.
