We were thrilled to welcome HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh to Kent in April where she visited Brockhill Park Performing Arts College, Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent and Medway Medical School and Kent Refugee Action Network.
Her first visit of the day was at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College where she met with students involved with the farming programme at the school. The school is the first to be awarded as a LEAF Gold Demonstration School for their commitment to including farming as part of their curriculum. Her Royal Highness is President of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming). It was clear to see that all the children gain so much from this fantastic facility and they were all excited to share what they have been learning with Her Royal Highness.
The Duchess of Edinburgh then visited Canterbury Christ Church University where Her Royal Highness officially opened the Verona Holmes STEM Building. Her Royal Highness then officially opened the Kent and Medway Medical School and the Pears Building. The Kent and Medway Medical School is jointly run by the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University and we are so proud that we have this wonderful Medical School in Kent which accepted its first cohort of students in 2020.
Her Royal Highness ended the day by visiting the wonderful Kent Refugee Action Network which supports refugees and asylum seekers in Kent. HRH met with those who are supported by the group and joined a Learning for Life Class.
