The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to present Dr Who legend, Tom Baker with his richly deserved MBE on Monday 10 November at Hole Park. Tom is a true national treasure whose talent and humour have brought joy to millions. He remains the most recognisable Doctor Who of all time and this honour is a fitting recognition of his remarkable contribution to the arts and to British culture.

The Lord-Lieutenant would like to thank his family, friends and colleagues for arranging for the presentation to be made as he emerged from the iconic TARDIS, a fitting and fun tribute to his long tenure in this role. Over seven consecutive seasons of Dr Who, Tom Baker brought to life a character that has become part of the nation’s cultural heritage. His portrayal was both commanding and compassionate, earning him international recognition and the affection of audiences across generations. Beyond his distinguished acting career, Tom Baker has devoted time to visiting those who might otherwise be overlooked, particularly the elderly, offering companionship and kindness with characteristic humility. For services to Television, Mr Tom Baker is awarded the honour of Member of the Order of the British Empire
