Earlier in the year, the Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to accept the invitation to become Patron of the Medway Queen, a historic vessel renowned for its role in the Dunkirk evacuation during the Second World War. Lady Colgrain shared her pride in supporting this important piece of maritime heritage, saying:

“I am deeply honoured to accept the invitation to become Patron of the Medway Queen. This remarkable vessel holds a cherished place in our nation’s maritime heritage and stands as a proud testament to the courage and service of all who sailed in her. The dedication of the Medway Queen Preservation Society and its volunteers is truly inspiring, and I am delighted to lend my support as Patron to help safeguard her legacy for future generations.”

The Medway Queen Preservation Society continues its vital work to preserve this iconic ship, ensuring its story of bravery and resilience remains alive for generations to come.
