On 6 July 2025, Deputy Lieutenant, Jo Holmes represented the Lord-Lieutenant of Kent at the Battle of Britain Memorial Day Service held at the iconic memorial site in Capel-le-Ferne. This annual event pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of “The Few” – the Royal Air Force pilots and aircrew who defended Britain during the Battle of Britain in 1940. The memorial, overlooking the English Channel, serves as a poignant reminder of their courage and the pivotal role they played in securing freedom during the Second World War. The ceremony included a Service of Remembrance, the laying of wreaths, and musical tributes, attended by veterans, serving personnel, civic leaders, and members of the public.
