The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to present Discovery Planet with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service at a ceremony held at the Royal Temple Yacht Club in Ramsgate, on Saturday 11 April.
Often described as the voluntary sector equivalent of an MBE, this prestigious national award recognises exceptional voluntary service. Selected from a highly competitive field, Discovery Planet was honoured for its outstanding contribution to young people through imaginative and accessible STEM workshops. Since 2014, they have supported more than 30,000 young people, thanks to the dedication of its volunteer team.
Presenting the award on behalf of His Majesty The King, the Lord-Lieutenant congratulated everyone involved on their outstanding commitment, positive impact and the vital role Discovery Planet plays within the Ramsgate and wider Thanet Community.
Our thanks to Deputy Lieutenant Paul Barrett and Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet Jessie-May Arnold for assisting the Lord-Lieutenant with this special presentation, and warm congratulations to everyone at Discovery Planet on this well deserved honour.
