Deputy Lieutenant Clive Stevens was delighted to visit the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) station at Ramsgate to learn more about the vital work carried out by its dedicated volunteers.
During his visit, Clive met members of the team and heard about their ambitions for the future, including the potential development of a watch station at Margate. He also gained an insight into the important role played by NCI volunteers in helping to keep those on and around the coast safe.
As one of around 60 NCI stations across the United Kingdom, Ramsgate’s volunteers provide an invaluable service as the ‘eyes along the coast’, monitoring maritime activity and working closely with HM Coastguard, the RNLI and Border Force.
The Lord-Lieutenant, Patron of the National Coastwatch Institution in Kent, offers her sincere thanks to the volunteers for their dedication and commitment to safeguarding our coastline, and for the warm welcome extended to Clive during his informative visit.
