Deputy Lieutenants were delighted to join Kent Scouts across the county for the Cardboard Sleepout in support of Porchlight and its vital work tackling homelessness, poverty and inequality.
Representing the Lord-Lieutenant at events across Kent were Andrew Wood in Dartford, Georgie Warner in Brenchley and Matfield, Nadra Ahmed in Malling, and Fidelity Weston in Edenbridge. They greatly enjoyed meeting the Scouts and volunteer leaders taking part and seeing the impressive cardboard shelters and constructions created for the occasion.
The event provided an opportunity for young people to learn more about the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness, while raising valuable funds to support Porchlight’s important work across Kent.
The Lieutenancy commends all the Scouts who took part, whose fundraising efforts and commitment demonstrated the very best of scouting values, including compassion, community spirit and a determination to make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Our sincere thanks to the volunteer leaders who gave so generously of their time and support to help make the event such a success.
