To mark the first ever National Cadet Week, Deputy Lieutenants from across Kent were delighted to visit cadet units and contingents throughout the county, meeting young people, volunteers and adult instructors, and learning more about the exceptional opportunities that cadet organisations provide.
The visits highlighted the dedication, teamwork and community spirit demonstrated by cadets and their leaders, while showcasing the invaluable role cadet organisations play in developing confidence, leadership skills and resilience in young people.
During the week, Deputy Lieutenants visited King’s School Canterbury CCF (Geoff Miles), Sir Roger Manwood’s School CCF (Colonel Jane Carey-Harris), 354 Dover Squadron RAF Air Cadets (Adrian Foster), Cranbrook School CCF (Simon Philip), Folkestone School for Girls CCF (Geoff Miles), 1039 Gillingham Squadron RAF Air Cadets (Brigadier Peter Gilbert), East Kent District Sea Cadets (James Ryeland), Tunbridge Wells RAF Cadets and Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School CCF (Georgie Warner), and Skinners’ School CCF and Tunbridge Wells Voluntary Cadets (Simon Dean).
The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to see the Lieutenancy supporting cadet organisations across the county and extends her sincere thanks to all cadets, volunteers and adult instructors for the important contribution they make to their communities and to the development of young people across Kent.
