The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to see how people celebrated VE Day in their homes across the County on VE Day on Friday 8 May.  The Lord-Lieutenant started the day with this message to the County on this important occasion to mark 75 years since Victory in Europe.

The Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets put together messages about what VE Day means to them and sent them in to us to share throughout the day on our social media feeds. We would like to thank all our Cadets for taking part in this.  It is wonderful to listen to their thoughts on this important day in our Country’s history.

The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to take part in a virtual VE Day Service for Rochester Cathedral which also featured HRH The Countess of Wessex, Joanna Lumley OBE and the High Sheriff of Kent.  You can watch this special service here

At 11.00am, the Lieutenancy took part in the a two minutes silence of Remembrance.

At 3.00pm, we took part in the Nation’s Toast where we raised a drink from the safety of our homes for the following toast:

“To those who gave so much, we thank you”
