The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to attend the Kent launch of this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, hosted by the Chairman of Kent County Council.
Joined by civic leaders, members of the Armed Forces community and guests from across the county, Lady Colgrain reflected on the importance of remembrance and the opportunity to honour all those who have served, and continue to serve, our country.
A particular highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the first poppies by the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet, Cadet Sergeant Rafael Rist, and Cadet Lance Corporal Georgia Phillips. Their participation demonstrated the continued commitment of younger generations to preserving the legacy of remembrance.
Guests also heard from Colonel (ACF) Richard Phillips, Commandant of Kent Army Cadet Force, who spoke about the valuable role cadets play within their communities and the dedication of the Adult Volunteers who support them.
Our sincere thanks to the Royal British Legion for its year-round commitment to supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families, and for the vital work undertaken through the annual Poppy Appeal. The Appeal continues to provide an important opportunity for communities across Kent to come together in remembrance, gratitude and support for the Armed Forces community.
