Deputy Lieutenant Brigadier Andrew Wood was pleased to represent the Lord-Lieutenant at a moving service of remembrance in Twydall for Corporal McIlvenny of the Royal Engineers, who gave his life during the Falklands conflict.

The service provided a poignant opportunity to reflect on Corporal McIlvenny’s courage, dedication and sacrifice, and to honour all those who served during Operation Corporate, as well as the families who continue to carry the legacy of their loss with such dignity.

Remembering those who served at the forefront of demanding and dangerous operations, the occasion highlighted the enduring values of duty, loyalty and selfless commitment that remain at the heart of the Armed Forces community.

The Lord-Lieutenant extends her sincere thanks to Brigadier Wood for representing her on this important occasion, and to all those who work tirelessly to ensure that the service and sacrifice of the fallen are never forgotten.
