Deputy Lieutenant, Colonel Jane Carey-Harris was delighted to represent the Lord-Lieutenant at the County Conference of the Royal British Legion which was overseen by Caye Gould, the County Chairman. It was attended by Paul Bennett, the National President, and Brigadier Peter Gilbert, QVRM TD DL VR, the new County President and a fellow Kent DL.
Before the start, Jane had the honour of inspecting the Standards with Geoff Lees, County Parade Marshall. During the Conference, Jane presented Awards to the outgoing County Standard Bearer, Geoff Lees, and other key volunteers.
The Conference was fortunate to hear excellent presentations by Caye Gould, Mrs E Butler, Shoreham Branch and member of the Board of Trustees, and the County President who explained his family’s links with the military and some very moving memories from his personal diary whilst on deployment. As a veteran and member of the Canterbury Branch, Jane thanked all those involved with this important charity.
